American country music artist, born 1 December 1919, in Dublin, Texas, USA, died 1 July 1966.
Slim was the songwriter of "Don't Let the Stars Get in Your Eyes" which he first recorded in June of 1952 and which rose to #14 on the U.S. Country charts. It's been covered over 60 times with Perry Como hitting #1 in the U.S. in December of 1952 and #1 in the U.K. in January of 1953. The answer song "I Let the Stars Get in My Eyes" by Goldie Hill, with new lyrics by Tommy Hill was #1 on the U.S. Country charts in 1953.
