Martín Lizcano de la Rosa

Spanish pianist, conductor, composer, from Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain (1903 - 1981)

He first organized a band that played at the Pathé Cinema of Las Ramblas street from Barcelona on 1927.
That band was later renamed as Orquesta Crazy Boys (Crazy Boys Orchestra), and in the early 30s, they started recording for the spanish branch of Odeón.
After the spanish Civil War (1936 - 1939), Martín dropped his first surname "Lizcano" to avoid being connected to his brother Fernando Lizcano de la Rosa (captain of the catalonian squadrons ie. Mossos d'esquadra during Franco's military uprising and shot by the Catalonian government after joining the Falangist side), and recorded again for the Spanish branch of Odeón during the 40s as leader of his own band (then known as Martín De La Rosa's Orchestra) that featured Antonio Vidal Ricart as vocalist & guitarist among other sidemen.
