Roy Butin

Real name: Roy Hunter Butin

Effective period / Period of releases: 1909 - 1912

American harp guitarist (October 30, 1876, Logan, Ohio – August 16, 1943, Long Beach, California)

Rey Butin recorded more than a dozen early cylinder and 78 rpm records, including ten songs for the Victor label in 1908 and three for Columbia in 1909. Between ca. 1906 to 1916, he recorded and performed with Michael Banner under the name The Olivotti Troubadours. Other artists with whom he recorded included Samuel Siegel, Valentine Abt, and W. Eugene Page.

Contrary to popular belief, he was not part of the Ossman-Dudley Trio; the harp guitar on that ensemble was played by George N. Dudley.
