David Bennett

Real name: David Dresden Bennett

(Born 3 September 1892 in Ida Grove, Iowa - Died 13 August 1990 in Clarendon Hills, Illinois)
US composer, arranger, pianist and clarinetist. He studied at the Chicago College of Music and made a name for himself in the 1920s and 30s as an arranger for most of the leading bands and network radio shows. His ''Bye, Bye, Blues'' was composed in 1925 for a tap dance troupe performing at the Marigold Gardens at Grace Street and Broadway and was later published by Irving Berlin. Later he published many arrangements and original compositions for wind band with publishers like Carl Fischer and Southern Music Company. Among his many honors, he was elected to the American Bandmasters Association in 1954.
