Caesar Pezzolo

Real name: Eugenio Cesare Pezzolo

Effective period / Period of releases: 1928

Italian American accordionist (b. July 9, 1895 in Acereto, Favale di Malvaro, Genoa, Italy – d. May 30, 1959 in Contra Costa County, California, USA)

Pezzolo emigrated to the United States in 1912, together with his brothers and fellow accordionists John Pezzolo and Ralph Pezzolo. In 1920, all three shared a household in San Francisco, where John had married an American, and performed in dance halls. Caesar Pezzolo was soon well-known enough that Columbia made several recordings of him (sometimes accompanied by John and Ralph) in San Francisco and Los Angeles between 1928 and 1930.

Caesar Pezzolo also composed several accordion pieces, including "Cesarina", "Marianna", "La Campagnola", "Viva La Giga", and "Motocicleta" (i.e., motor bike).
