Scottish Contralto, born 1903 in Scotland, died 27th April 1960 Kew, Boroondara City, Victoria, Australia.In her native Scotland, Mrs. Barr was a professional singer – a contralto – under her maiden name of Anne Ballantine.
She was an expert on Negro spirituals and the first woman artist to make a national broadcast for the B.B.C.
Mrs Barr often sang for the Oratorio Society in Melbourne, and gave many lectures on singing.
