Biography

The London Symphonic Wind Orchestra
From the booklet of the CD "The Winds of Change", CHANDOS CHAN 9764:
The London Symphonic Wind Orchestra was created in 1992 specifically for the recording of Nigel Hess’s works for wind orchestra. It is a studio ensemble incorporating the cream of London’s professional session and orchestral musicians. To create a truly homogeneous sound great care has been taken to ensure the blend of instruments: for example, all twelve B flat clarinets used in the recordings are1010 wide bore English instruments. This reduces intonation problems and adds an invaluable richness to the sound of the orchestra.
