Japanese underground theatre group formed in 1967 by Shuji Terayama. The name was inspired by the Japanese title of Marcel Carné's film Les Enfants du Paradis (天井桟敷の人々). Amongst the sixteen founding members were Eiko Kujo, Yutaka Higashi, Tadanori Yokoo. The group split following Terayama's death in 1983.
