Brazilian jazz-pop singer, born April 28, 1965 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She started her solo career in 1990. Koorax's reputation as a creative and expressive vocalist, gifted with a four-octave range, spread quickly. Ithamara recorded with Antonio Carlos Jobim, Luiz Bonfá, Hermeto Pascoal, Ron Carter, John McLaughlin, Larry Coryell, Dom Um Romao, Azymuth, Marcos Valle, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Elizeth Cardoso, Eumir Deodato, Mario Castro Neves, Raul De Souza, Art Farmer, Sadao Watanabe, Thiago De Mello, Rodgers Grant, João Palma, and Gazzara. She has also performed with João Donato, Edu Lobo, Guinga, Paulo Moura, Tito Madi, Milton Banana, Luiz Eça, Helio Delmiro and many others. Koorax, who was signed to the Milestone (4), Paddle Wheel and Irma Records labels, has also recorded six movie soundtracks and over ten songs for Brazilian soap operas.
