Isham Jones founded his orchestra at the end of the 1920s and recorded numerous records in the 1920's and 1930's, of which Isham Jones Orchestra - Ma / Wabash Blues was one of the most successful. One of the most talented musicians, Woody Herman, had his early period as musician in this orchestra. The band was dissolved in mid 1936 and a 'soft' and a 'hot' fraction of the groups survived and continued the tradition of the orchestra. The hot fraction was later known as Woody Herman And His Orchestra and stayed active until the 1980's.
