After Nelson Mandela's release from prison, Afrika Bambaataa and Gee Street Records organized a 1990 concert at Wembley in the UK to benefit the African National Congress. The concert brought together performances by UK and US rappers/musicians. The sales from the subsequent recording of the "Ndodemnyama (Free South Africa)" raised nearly $30,000, which was donated to the ANC.
