He has been performing since the late 1950's. He has done some acting and performed on many television shows. He charted 36 times in the U.S. beginning with "Lollipops and Roses" in 1962 and ending with "The Theme to the Love Boat" in 1980. His top charted songs included two #1's on the adult contemporary charts, including 1965's "The Race Is On" (#15 overall),1966's "The Impossible Dream (The Quest)" (#36 overall), and 1967's "Lady" (#39 overall).
He has won 2 Grammy awards for the songs "Lollipops and Roses" (1962 Grammy Award, Best Pop Male Performance), and "Wives and Lovers" (1964 Grammy Award, Best Pop Male Performance).
