Pedro Flores Y Su Conjunto

Members: Pedro Flores (2), Pedro Marcano

El Cuarteto Flores o Cuarteto de Pedro Flores was a musical ensemble of tropical music founded by Pedro Flores in New York in the thirties. The group arose from the need of Puerto Rican composer Pedro Flores to found a group that could compete with the Rafael Hernández Trío Borinquen.
The Cuarteto Flores was composed, in its first formation by Flores himself with Pedro Marcano, Ramón Quirós, Davilita, Yayito and Pellín. Artists such as Panchito Riset and Johnny Rodríguez were also part of the group.
The group made their first recordings in 1930. Although the group changed from format to sextet and later became an orchestra, it kept its name of Cuarteto Flores.
Flores faced problems with his publishing house and left the quartet to go to Mexico and later to Cuba where he would live for several years. Unfortunately, it did not maintain the popularity of previous years.
Upon his return to New York, he consolidated his quartet being directed this time by Moncho Usera, with the voices of Doroteo Santiago and Chencho Moraza. At this stage, the group also had the participation of Puerto Rican singers Daniel Santos and Myrta Silva.
