Real name: Dirk Hermanus Witte
Dirk Witte was born in Zaandam in 1885. He wrote both lyrics and music to his songs, which made him a pioneer. Dirk Witte died in a car crash in 1932. All in all he wrote 33 songs, which are still remarkably powerful.
