Biography
Geschwister Friedrich
Members: Alexandra Friedrich, Andreas Friedrich (2), Heinz Steinbauer, Günther Pöllabauer, Ramona Christina Oswald
Biography
The musical career of the Friedrich siblings began in 1986, when Alexandra Toberer-Friedrich and Andreas Friedrich turned to traditional folk music.
Soon after, Andreas Heiling and cousin Günther Pöllabauer join the siblings. Together, the four-member folk music ensemble develops a repertoire of traditional pieces and their own compositions, including works that have become known, such as "Rural Peace", "Autumn Thoughts", "Weit!" as well as numerous vocal pieces, which were orchestrated by Alexandra Toberer-Friedrich
and Andreas Heiling and have already been used as film music.
For some time now, Heinz Steinbauer and Ramona Oswald have been enriching the sound of the group and enabling a greater variety of programmes.
Out of tradition, the ensemble finds its own personal style, which is particularly audible in its own compositions. The motivation – to break new ground within a tradition – is of particular concern to the Friedrich siblings. Works of different character, varied instruments, a wealth of timbres and the expression of individual moods are the result of a joint maturation process.
