Deviant was formed in early 2002 by Johan, EB and Magnus in Uppsala, Sweden. Alx joined shortly thereafter.

The selftitled debut demo was recorded in August of 2003, and released in November the same year.

The demo lead to a deal with the Italian label, The Spew Records.

Erik joined as bass player in January, 2004. And left in October.

The debut album, Larvaeon, was recorded in the end of December 2004 and the beginning of January 2005.

Fredrik filled the bass spot on Larvaeon and joined the band shortly after its release.
