Emilio Norman was born January 28 in Memphis, TN. They were always the eccentric artsy kid getting addicted to any and every anime and video game and drawing old school cartoons on nickelodeon and cartoon network like Ed, Edd, & Eddy and Ren & Stimpy. They found a strong love with music when the subgenre of nu-metal surfaced in the 90's. Between going to concerts and moshing around their room, this culture became highly involved in their artwork, always poking at stereotypes in subcultures and making satire of it. Social commentary and race issues have also become a main focal point in the work. After deciding to make something of their talents, they attended Southwest Tennessee College and developed their skills in the digital world receiving an associates degree in graphic design in 2014. During this time they also found true love in photography and video and started working on a BFA at the University of Memphis with a concentration in photography/video work where their concepts and narratives began to grow into something more. They then went on to graduate in the Spring of 2018 with a BFA in Photography.

The alias CEL SHADE was created in 2017, after being the music/sound designer for an indie video game, and deciding to take the sound even further.
