Vanessa Kendrick, while still a student at Edison High School in Miami, FL, met music producer Clarence Reid. After various hesitations due to the young girl's shyness, Reid convinced her to enter TK Studios to record three songs, which were released as two singles in 1972. The track "90%" Of Me Is You was re-cut with Gwen McCrae two years later becoming a classic for dance-floor around the world.
