Bayer 04 Leverkusen Fußball GmbH, also known as Bayer 04 Leverkusen is a German association football club based in Leverkusen, North Rhine-Westphalia, the Federal Republic of Germany competing in the German Bundesliga, the top-flight of football in Germany.Founded in 1904 by employees of the German pharmaceutical company Bayer AG, the team play their home games at the BayArena to a capacity of 30,810. Having never won the national championship, the team have seen continental success, winning the 1987–88 UEFA Cup, as well as finishing as runners-up to Real Madrid in the 2001–02 UEFA Champions League.
