Real name: John Di Stefano

John Di Stefano has been involved in writing and performing experimental music since the early 1970s. Trained as a percussionist, he combined electronics and percussion in his music to produce a synthesis of layered polyrhythms and analog/digital electronics. He recorded under the name KLANG, and has presented numerous performances of his experimental music in the Bay Area.
He also worked on scores for theatre productions, including a piece directed by Ron Davis, founder of the San Francisco Mime Troupe, and with THE RESIDENTS. He was a member of the San Francisco-based performance group ELBOWS AKIMBO, and used to be the artistic director of THE LAB, an experimental art space in San Francisco.
