Janine Rainforth

Real name: Janine Rainforth

Janine Rainforth was an original founder of post-punk Bristol band, Maximum Joy in 1979. With Janine at the helm as vocalist and co-founder, Maximum Joy released a number of cult groove classics including Stretch and White and Green Place. The band toured extensively putting out Station MXJY, an album produced alongside the legendary Adrian Sherwood. The demand for re-releases of the back catalogue is on-going, a track is soon to be featured on a forthcoming Warp compilation celebrating Sherwood’s work.
After Maximum Joy, Rainforth went on to form Leonard and the Cats with Ollie Moore (Pigbag) and Nick Sheppard (The Cortinas and the Clash). She was out of the music industry for some years but recently has come back into it. She started releasing and performing solo work under the name Rainforth in 2014. Then in 2015 she spearheaded the reformation of Maximum Joy to perform at Simple Things.
Since then she formed her new band, MXMJoY.
