He co-wrote most of his songs with writing partner Biff Jones including "Suddenly There's a Valley" which has been covered more than 40 times. Owned Valentine Records with Jones. Recordings of "Suddenly There's a Valley" made the Billboard top 30 in 1955 by Gogi Grant, Jo Stafford, and Julius La Rosa; Petula Clark took the song to #7 in the UK that same year.
