Western swing guitarist, vocalist and bandleader in Tucson, Arizona. Born July 2, 1923 and died March 6, 2011 at age 87. Armstrong was born in Illinois and began playing the guitar at age 8. He moved to Tucson, Arizona in the 1940s and by 1946 was performing at clubs around town. In 1948, he formed the band Dean Armstrong And The Arizona Dance Hands, and continued to perform with the band on weekly shows at steakhouse and music venue Li'l Abner's for over 50 years.
