Biography
Georges Chorafas
Greek talented musician, singer and composer (born in 1927 in Egypt, died in Chailly-sur-Montreux, Switzerland, Jan. 21, 2011), started his musical career at the age of 15. Toured with bands throughout the Middle-East, came in 1952 to Europe. Worked with the orchestra of Tony D'Adario as a singer. In 1960 he formed his own trio Korafas & ses Rhythmes. In 1965 he stopped touring and settled with his family in Montreux in 1965. He was hired as an arranger, orchestrator of the Ensemble de musique légère de la Radio Suisse Romande, he was also the musical director of the following TV-shows LA GRANDE CHANCE, MOSAIQUES, FETE COMME CHEZ VOUS. In 2010 he co-wrote with Pierre Huwiler and Lionel Chapuis the musical score for the Starmania, the rock-opera of the Club Des Accordéonistes De La Ville De Bulle. He also participated for 25 years in the organization of the Montreux Jazz Festival.
