Bernard Arbus

Effective period / Period of releases: 2013

French pianist.

Bernard Arbus is a graduate of the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Musique de Paris, second prize winner at the Montevideo International Competition, and holds a master's degree in musicology from the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Paris and a bachelor's degree in literature from the University of Paris 4. He is a professor of music didactics at the Ecole Supérieure de Pédagogie et d'Education d'Aquitaine, for the MEEF master's degree in primary and secondary education

He has given numerous recitals in Europe and the United States and has made two recordings of the piano works of Dom Clément Jacob (1908-1976) for the Lira d'Arco and Calliope labels, which have been acclaimed and rewarded by specialist reviews in France and abroad (Diapason, Classica, Le monde de la musique, Record Geijutsu, Platéa, Piano international).

His concerts and recitals always give pride of place to forgotten French and foreign composers such as Dom Clément Jacob, Gabriel Grovlez, Théodore Dubois, Josep Soler and many others whose works, however magnificent, remain unjustly neglected.

Dividing his time between teaching, research, conferences and concerts, he tries to share and understand the fundamental and archetypal values of music through the illumination and exegesis of the works he performs.

His field of research is that of piano learning and its effects on the cognitive ageing of the elderly, in particular through the creation of an adapted method for seniors.
