A. Grace Lee Mims

Soprano vocalist

Born in Snow Hill, Alabama. Graduated from Show hill Institute which was found by her grandfather, William James Edwards. The B.S. degree was received from Hampton Institute and the M.S.L.S. from Case Western Reserve University. She has studied voice with Burton Garlinghouse and with Pauline Thesmacher. She has been a member of the Lake Erie Opera Theatre, a member and soloist in the Cleveland Orchestra Chorus and Chamber Chorus, and has performed leading roles in Karamu's Lyric Opera Theatre.

Soloist at Fairmount Church and is on the voice faculty of the Cleveland Music School Settlement. Hostess-Producer of "The Black Arts" and "Artslog" on WCLV-FM, Cleveland's Fine Arts Station. "Soul: The Black Man and his Music" is one of her published articles. She tours nationally giving lecture-recitals on the spiritual.
