Leslie Sarony (b. February 22, 1897 in Surbiton, Surrey - d. February 12, 1985 in London) was a British entertainer, singer and songwriter. A prolific writer, performer and recorder of comic songs, he was also a dancer and actor and appeared in many stage and television productions. He twice enjoyed million sellers including "Ain't It Grand to be Bloomin' Well Dead" (1932). He recorded a number of novelty songs, such as "He Played His Ukulele As The Ship Went Down", including several with Jack Hylton & His Orchestra.Sarony continued to perform into his eighties, moving on to television and films.
