Founder, guitarist and main songwriter of The Selecter during 1979-1981.
In 1991 he reformed band with Pauline Black but left a year later.

In the 90's he performed as Selecter Instrumental, worked on his first Blues orientated solo album and released it on his own label.
He also joined a line up of The Specials for sessions which resulted in two albums with him on Rhythm Guitar in the early 2000s.
