Ray Durant
Real name: Horatio Durant
Jazz pianist, born 1910 in Panama.Moved to the USA in 1929. First played trombone with Bob Sylvester's band in New York; switched to piano exclusively while with this band. Later worked with Claude Hopkins at the Cotton Club. Led own band for many years, then 1939-1944 worked as accompanist for vocal group Deep River Boys, later returning to this group in 1955.
