John Henry Hopkins

Real name: John Henry Hopkins, Jr.

John Henry Hopkins, Jr. was an American clergyman and hymn composer, known best for writing "We Three Kings" and "Gather Around The Christmas Tree". A collection of his compositions, "Carols, Hymns and Songs" was published in 1872 and reprinted in 2010.

d.: Au­g. 14, 1891 in Hud­son, NY.
His father John Henry Hopkins Sr. (Jan. 30, 1792 - Jan. 9, 1868) was the first bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Vermont and was the eighth Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church in the United States of America.
