Vera Bagnall

Australian soprano (1923-1993)

Started singing lessons aged 14 and in 1938 entered the Deanna Durbin Quest, coming second to Jean Hatton. Radio appearances as a teenager, and during 1940-1941 was with Bert Howell's Stage Band at the Prince Edward Theatre, Sydney. Later with Jim Gussey's Band on A.B.C. radio and began singing with the National Opera in the 1950s.
