Stanley Clarkson

Australian bass (b. Sydney 1905 - d. London 22 Jan., 1961)

Studied as Sydney Conservatorium. Sang with Sydney Philharmonic Society 1930-1941. Broadcasting over Radio 2FC. 1926-1940. Involved in entertaining servicemen during WWII. Went to London August 1947 and became a member of the Sadlers Wells Opera 1948. Broadcast over the BBC and sang with Joan Hammond in "Don Carlos" (1951). Came to Australia to perform for ABC/Elizabethan Trust for 9 months in 1956. Returned to Sadlers Wells in 1957.
