Willie Fennell

Real name: William Fennell

Australian comedian, actor & songwriter (b. Bondi, NSW. 1 Jan., 1920 - d. Sydney. 8 Sept, 1992)

Began his professional career on Sydney radio in the "Colgate-Palmolive Show" as the program's resident comic (1945-1952). In the 1950s he wrote, produced and starred in all 500 episodes of the syndicated radio comedy series "Life With Dexter". When television broadcasting began in Australia in 1956 the already hugely popular Fennell moved into character roles in many types of programmes and was also in a number of feature films including "Caddie" and "Cathy's Child". Appeared in various stage roles during the 1960s & 1970s.
