João Luiz Palmeiro, aka João da Benga, was a Brazilian bossa nova singer-songwriter and acoustic guitar player (b. 1941, Rio de Janeiro; d. 23 January 2022, Porto Alegre). Born to a family of gauchos, he developed his career in Porto Alegre, RS, where he became known as a prominent bossa nova singer-songwriter and member of group Canta Povo. His song "Formiguinha Triste" was recorded by famous singer Elis Regina in her third LP.
