Real name: Ronald Hazlehurst

British trumpet player, composer, arranger, and conductor, born in Dukinfield (1928), died in St Peter Port, Guernsey (2007). Joined the BBC in 1961, becoming the broadcaster's Head of Light Entertainment seven years later. Composed theme tunes to countless BBC programmes. Conducted the orchestra in countless editions of the Eurovision Song Contest between 1974 and 1992.
