Real name: Mebrouka Mhenni

El-Djida Tameqrant, real name Mebrouka Mhenni, born July 4, 1912, is an Algerian singer from the village of Ras-n-Tala, in the wilaya of Sétif in Algeria. She began singing at a very young age during the “Ourar” women's festival then moved to Algiers where she performed on the radio with Cheikh Noureddine's troupe. We guess then that she is very popular. She died in 1992. Algerian singer specializing in the Ashwiq style in the Amazigh language. Not to be confused with the young singer El Djida Tamechtuht.
