He co-wrote "He" with Richard Mullan. The song charted three times in the U.S.: 1955, Al Hibbler hit #4 (#13 R&B); also 1955, The McGuire Sisters, #10; and 1966, The Righteous Brothers, #18. Richards also co-wrote "Queen of the Senior Prom" (with Ed Penney & Stella Lee), which charted twice: 1957, by The Mills Brothers, #39; and 1967, Vaughn Monroe, #132.
Richards had two groups he played with: Jack Richards and The Marksmen and Jack Richards And The Nightwinds.
