Silence Is Sexy from The Netherlands was formed in 2003 by Hendrik-Jan de Wolff (vocals, guitar), Pim van de Werken (guitar), Barry Spooren (bass) and Bart Reinders (drums). The band was named after an album by Einstürzende Neubauten. The sound of Silence Is Sexy has been compared to the likes of Joy Division, Sonic Youth, Placebo, Radiohead, My Bloody Valentine and Interpol.

In 2005 a self-titled EP was released and the band received the Grolsch Grand Prix, a renowned Dutch rock award.
In 2006 the debut album ‘Everything you should know’ was recorded, but postponed due to a business conflict. The single 'This is our start?' came out in the summer of 2006, when the band played at many large festivals.
In 2007 the first album of Silence Is Sexy was finally released on My First Sonny Weissmuller Recordings.
