The Furlongs
Members: Terry Furlong, Jeff Hittelman
The Furlongs were an American group that existed in the 1960s. It consisted of Terry Furlong, his brother Kevin on Drums, cousin Patrick on lead guitar and their friend Jeff Hittelman on bass. They recorded their first single in 1964. It was released on the California-based CRS Records (see CRS Records) label. This was the same label that that produced the hit "Dave Hull The Hullabalooer" for The Scuzzies, backed by Traffic Circle Cinnamon club house band, The Vibrants (see The Vibrants ). The Furlongs' single "(Come Back) Where You Belong / Why Should I Care" / "Why Should I Care" which appears to be the second release for the label. The songs were from their own material. The credited composers for both sides were T.K.P. Furlong and Hittelman. Their single was produced by Bob Field who had previously produced the Scuzzies' single.After The Furlongs, Terry Furlong would write songs for artists and groups such as Larry Carlton, Three Dog Night, John Hammond Jr., and Tom Jones. He was also a member of The Grass Roots and another group, Blue Rose (see Blue Rose) . He produced their recordings as well. He also played on recordings by Redbone
* There is another later group with the same name. They were from San Francisco. That particular group, The Furlongs released their debut album in 1988.
