Maria Mendes
Portuguese jazz singer living in Rotterdam, Netherlands, since 2007.
Maria studied Jazz at ESMAE music conservatory in Porto and at CODARTS music conservatory in Rotterdam where in 2009 she concluded her master studies in Jazz performance.
Her music shows a mixture of Bossa Nova’s gentle grooves, the Portuguese Fado’s melancholic singing, the American jazz of the early 50s and with the richness of the classical music, and has been praised by musical legends such as Quincy Jones and Hermeto Pascoal.
