Gene Kurtz

Real name: Gene Kurtz

Gene Kurtz was an American bassist, guitarist and vocalist, born in San Antonio, Texas in 1943 and passed away in October 2011.
Kurtz was a native of San Antonio and lived in Austin. He played with a number of bands in San Antonio, including Denny Ezba & the Goldens, before joining Roy Head and his San Marcos-based band The Traits in the mid-1960s. While working with Head, he co-wrote the hit song “Treat Her Right”.
After this, he played with musicians and bands including Edgar Winter, Bo Diddley, Booker T., Paul Revere & the Raiders, Mose Allison, Percy Sledge, Bobby "Blue" Bland, the Coasters, The Fifth Dimension, Miss Molly & the Whips, Ezra Charles, Johnny Nash, Johnny Bush, and Johnny Lee.
He was a longtime member of Dale Watson And His Lone Stars.
