American songwriter.
Best known for co-writing song "Jim", which became a hit for both Jimmy Dorsey and His Orchestra and Dinah Shore in 1941, each time reaching #5 on the U.S. charts. The song was co-written by Caesar Petrillo and Edward Ross (aka Milton Samuels). The song since has been covered by numerous arists including Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Peggy Lee, Bille Holiday, Aretha Franklin, Etta Jones and many others.
