His works particularly focused on questions of being, human existence, and the history of philosophy. They have proved highly influential on continental philosophy and have thus informed a wide range of philosophers such as Hannah Arendt, Jean-Paul Sartre, Hans-Georg Gadamer and Jacques Derrida.
