Loulou Djine was founded in 1994, shortly after band leader Dragan Urlic's departure from his hometown Sarajevo. Rooted in Gipsy folk music, their repertoire draws from many musical traditions, opening them to contemporaray influences. The band's name is derived from louloudja, the Gipsy translation for "flower".
