Franco-Flemish composer of the late Renaissance (born 1532, Mons, Belgium (Hainaut) - died June 14, 1594, Munich, Germany). Lassus is today considered the chief representative of the mature polyphonic style of the Franco-Flemish school, and one of the three most famous and influential musicians in Europe at the end of the 16th century (along with Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina and Tomás Luis De Victoria).
