3rd Horn with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (aged 15) and then 5th in the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. Principal Horn of London Symphony Orchestra (1955-1967). He founded the Maryland Symphony Orchestra in 1982 and was the first president of the International Horn Society from 1970-1976 and again in 1992-1994. Appointed OBE (1965) & Companion of the Order of Australia (1992).
