Gummi Bako

Effective period / Period of releases: 2007

Members: Cheehi, Uncle Beesly

Gummi Bako have been cranking up their outhouse rock for as long as they care to remember. Raised on a high-sugar diet of Carry On films and the Muppets with a firm foundation in wonkytonk, country and gospel, it's no surprise that they ended up spanking their planks in a most inimitable fashion.

As long-standing members of Fife's Fence Collective they've featured on a multitude of Fence records (including "Fence Reunited" and "Let's get this ship on the road"); and even had their songs covered by fellow fencers King Creosote and James Yorkston. In 2006 they released their first collection of homespun mellodaze on their mini-album "Sticky Wicket".

Their latest release is a 7" split single with Edinburgh rage rawkers Come In Tokyo. Having served their apprenticeships under the Fence Collective banner, the bands hatched a plan to avoid being mistakenly tarred with the same alt-folk brush as Fence's leading lights. In the great independent D.I.Y. tradition, they decided to do it themselves! The limited edition 7" vinyl record features all-new band recordings and has been released by upstart independent label Nekkid Rekkids… no frills, just thrills!
