Francesco Gasparini

Italian Baroque composer and teacher (19 March 1661 – 22 February 1727). Born in Camaiore, near Lucca, he was musical director of the Pio Ospedale della Pietà, where he employed Antonio Vivaldi. He composed more than 60 operas, the most famous being Ambleto (or Amleto), a variation upon the Hamlet story.
