Lyman's ensemble appears as "Lyman's California Ambassador Hotel Orchestra" on Brunswick recordings released between 1923 and the first half of 1924, during the time when it was the house band of the well-known Ambassador Hotel on Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles, California.

Afterwards, the band called itself simply Abe Lyman's California Orchestra.
