Zero Crossing

Real name: Andreas Angerer

Effective period / Period of releases: 1998 - 2006

Members: Thomas Aichberger, Andreas Angerer

Asking Andreas Angerer aka Zero Crossing about his favorite producers, he names people like the early Photek, Richie Hawtin, Herbert, the Tampa Crew or Depeche Mode. And Zero Crossing sounds like a mixture of these adding boogie and jazz elements. The results are strange beatz, heavy grooves and sounds, always rough, delivering surprising combinations.
Born in the lower bavaria, Angerer began creating his own music in the mid 90s. It was about the time when a lower bavarian posse began to create the Spinning Wheel label and the progressive spins series. Angerer started to organize parties with his friends Marcus Hacker and Reinhard Wimmer in this area, 2 of them in a small porn cinema in Pfarrkirchen, later known as club bogaloo. He was around the spinning wheel crew when they started their label, helped to launch their record store and released his first 12” together with his former partner Thomas Aichberger on the spinning wheel sublabel “Transmitter Schallplattenproduktion”. Metabolism / the echolot was rough drum & bass with heavy beats, uncompromising, not funny. At that time the German Raveline Magazine required more hits like these and Zero Crossings second 12” followed. Working on a Space Clique Remix for their Gary Bartz cover “celestial blues” ZC performed their first experiments with bringing soul/disco together with breakbeatz and it was a full effort. Later Angerer began to work with Marcus Hacker, co-founder of Spinning Wheel Records and they had lots of fun in bringing different music styles together. That’s what they practice until now. Different styles, but always uncompromising and rough with a heavy beat workout. “Missed Torsion” was the next 12” released on Spinning Wheel Records with remixes from DOMU (his first remix work?) and Amalgamations of Sounds and this time actually Gilles Peterson played their stuff on his worldwide show. A few more releases followed, but Angerers plans of releasing his first album were stopped by the Spinning Wheel split of Hacker and Wimmer. Zero Crossing rehired on Hackers newly founded Perfect Toy label and soon a remix for Hipnosis was released as part of a remix EP climbing on German Club Charts top 10.
